COMMISSIONING MANAGEMENT SERVICES

Control systems

Core Group control systems diagram

Control systems are integral to any contemporary construction project, playing a crucial role in managing, monitoring, and optimising building operations once the structure is complete – and ultimately making buildings smarter.

These systems enhance energy efficiency, safety, comfort, and sustainability while ensuring that the building functions smoothly and effectively.

A key Control system is the Building Management System (BMS), which oversees the operation of various building systems like HVAC, lighting, and security. Other Control functions include: lighting control systems designed to improve both energy efficiency and user comfort; energy network monitoring systems that track and analyse energy use across a facility; and fire alarm and suppression systems – essential for safety, detecting fires and triggering alarms and suppression mechanisms.

Control systems are planned and integrated early in the design phase of construction projects, and commissioning management is vital from this stage onwards. The commissioning management process ensures not only that these complex, interconnected systems operate as effectively and efficiently as possible, but also that every component is tested rigorously and validated for safety.
